Application Dates, Fee and Exam Date

• September 2026: Online applications opened.
• After the last date: A correction window of about 2 days opens so you can fix mistakes in the form. Check the portal for the exact dates.
• April 2027: Admit cards are released for registered candidates.
• 10 April 2027: Lateral Entry Selection Test.
• May/June 2027: Result expected.

Application fee: Free Reports say the application can be submitted without any fee. Still, check the official notification for any payment details.

Class 9 and Class 11 at a Glance

Eligibility

Class 11

• The student must be studying in Class 10 in the 2026-27 session.
• Class 10 must be studied in a government or recognised school in the same district from which the application is made.
• Only Indian citizens who studied Class 10 in India are eligible.
• Students who passed Class 10 before 2026-27 are not eligible.
• Date of birth must fall between 1 June 2010 and 31 July 2012 (both dates included).

Class 9

• The student must be studying in Class 8 and be born between 1 May 2012 and 31 July 2014 (both dates included).
• For other conditions, such as district and school recognition, read the official notification.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Class 9 test

100 questions for 100 marks, set at the Class 8 level.

Class 11 test

100 questions for 100 marks, with 20 questions from each subject.

• Both tests last 2 hours 30 minutes (the Class 11 test runs from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM). Students with disabilities get 50 extra minutes as per the rules.
• The test is objective, answered on an OMR sheet, and the paper is in Hindi and English.
• Each correct answer earns 1 mark and there is no negative marking.
• In Class 11, a student can choose up to 2 streams and up to 3 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for each. The streams offered are Science, Commerce, Humanities and Vocational.
• The final selection depends on the vacant seats and merit.

Reservation and Documents

Reservation applies to the vacant seats in Class 9 and 11 for SC, ST, OBC and disabled candidates, as per the set rules.

• OBC students: A caste certificate for a caste in the Central list is required.
• Rural category: A rural-area certificate issued by a competent authority must be provided.
• For the online form: Keep scanned copies of the student's photo, the student's signature and the parent's signature ready.
• At verification after selection: You may be asked for the birth certificate, residence certificate, Aadhaar, study certificate from the previous school, category certificate and medical certificate.

How to Apply Online for Navodaya Admission 2027

1. Open navodaya.gov.in, or use the direct Class 11 application link given below.
2. On the homepage, choose the lateral entry application link for your class (Class IX or Class XI).
3. Fill in the student's required details and enter the state and district correctly.
4. Upload the student's photo and the signatures of the student and parent.
5. Class 11 students should choose up to 2 streams and up to 3 schools for each stream.
6. Check everything carefully, because the submitted information is treated as final.
7. Submit the application and save the registration number and a copy of the form.

The Class 9 form asks for the state, district, residence, Class 8 schooling, Aadhaar number and other required details. The Class 11 form asks for state, district, residence, schooling and Aadhaar-related details too. You can apply from a mobile, computer, laptop or tablet.
