Aadhaar DOB Correction After the Update Limit Is Over: Process, Forms and Solutions
As per UIDAI rules, the date of birth in Aadhaar can be changed only once through the normal process. If you try again, the system rejects the request with an "Update limit exceeded" message. But if there is a genuine mistake, the road is not closed. Under UIDAI's exception handling process, a Regional Office reviews your case separately. Process for DOB Correction After the Limit Is Over
- Prepare the documents for the correct date of birth: a birth certificate (or a corrected one), an identity proof and a filled affidavit (Annexure).
- Visit the nearest Aadhaar center, submit a fresh DOB update request, complete biometric verification and collect the EID/URN slip.
- The system may reject this request with the reason "limit exceeded". This is part of the process. Do not worry, and keep the slip safe.
- Call 1947, email help@uidai.gov.in or file a complaint on the UIDAI grievance portal. Quote your EID/URN and contact number and request exception processing through the Regional Office.
- Send the documents asked for (birth certificate, affidavit, identity proof, EID slip). The Regional Office will examine them and may ask for more documents. In some cases you may have to visit the office.
- If approved, the date of birth is updated. Keep checking the status and download your new Aadhaar afterwards.
Complete Set of Forms and Documents
- Aadhaar Update/Correction Form (available at the center or for download from the UIDAI website).
- Annexure-I affidavit (for adults) or Annexure-IA (for children), stating the correct date of birth and the reason.
- Birth certificate. If it has been corrected, the corrected certificate.
- Identity proof and a copy of your Aadhaar.
- The EID/URN slip of the earlier rejected request and the rejection SMS/status.
- A court order, if you have obtained one for the date of birth correction.
Solutions for Different Situations
- The date in Aadhaar differs from the document you submitted earlier (operator error): This is not treated as an exception. Submit the same document again, or, if it is no longer valid or available, give an Annexure-II self-declaration.
- You have already updated once and want to change again: Follow the exception process above with a birth certificate (or corrected certificate) and an Annexure-I affidavit.
- The birth certificate itself has a mistake: First get the certificate corrected by the Registrar of Births and Deaths, then apply for the Aadhaar change.
- A correction that changes a child's age band: Such cases are checked strictly. Submit only genuine and correct documents.
Important Points
- This process is not a way to make an age "convenient" for jobs, pensions or school. UIDAI verifies the records, and false information can lead to action.
- Names, date of birth and parents' names must match across all your documents.
- Keep a record of the EID/URN slip, the rejection message and the emails you sent.
- Do not pay any agent or middleman for "guaranteed approval". Only UIDAI grants approval.

- Annexure-I शपथ-पत्र (वयस्कों के लिए) या Annexure-IA (बच्चों के लिए), जिसमें सही जन्मतिथि और कारण लिखा हो।
- जन्म प्रमाणपत्र। अगर उसमें सुधार हुआ हो तो सुधरा हुआ प्रमाणपत्र।
- पहचान प्रमाण और आधार की कॉपी।
- पिछले रिजेक्ट अनुरोध की EID/URN पर्ची और रिजेक्शन का SMS/स्टेटस।
- अदालत का आदेश, अगर जन्मतिथि सुधार के लिए कोर्ट से कोई आदेश मिला हो।
अलग-अलग स्थिति में समाधान
- आधार की तारीख आपके पिछले जमा दस्तावेज़ से अलग है (ऑपरेटर की गलती): यह एक्सेप्शन नहीं माना जाता। वही दस्तावेज़ दोबारा जमा करें, या वह मान्य/उपलब्ध न हो तो Annexure-II स्वघोषणा पत्र दें।
- एक बार अपडेट करा चुके हैं और फिर बदलवाना है: जन्म प्रमाणपत्र (या सुधरा प्रमाणपत्र) और Annexure-I शपथ-पत्र के साथ ऊपर बताई एक्सेप्शन प्रक्रिया अपनाएं।
- जन्म प्रमाणपत्र में ही गलती है: पहले जन्म-मृत्यु पंजीयक से प्रमाणपत्र ठीक करवाएं, फिर आधार का अनुरोध करें।
- बच्चे की उम्र-सीमा बदलने वाला सुधार: ऐसे मामलों की कड़ी जांच होती है। केवल असली और सही दस्तावेज़ ही लगाएं।
ज़रूरी बातें
- उम्र नौकरी, पेंशन या स्कूल के लिए "सुविधाजनक" बनाने का तरीका यह प्रक्रिया नहीं है। UIDAI रिकॉर्ड की जांच करता है और गलत जानकारी पर कार्रवाई हो सकती है।
- सारे दस्तावेज़ों में नाम, जन्मतिथि और माता-पिता के नाम आपस में मेल खाने चाहिए।
- EID/URN पर्ची, रिजेक्शन मैसेज और भेजे गए ईमेल का रिकॉर्ड संभालकर रखें।
- किसी एजेंट या दलाल को "पक्का अप्रूवल" के नाम पर पैसे न दें। मंज़ूरी केवल UIDAI देता है।
