Aadhaar Card Download Process
The Aadhaar card carries a 12-digit unique identity number issued by the Government of India through UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). It is one of the most important documents for opening a bank account, availing government schemes, getting a SIM card or PAN card, and many other services. If you have lost your Aadhaar card or don't have a copy, you can download your e-Aadhaar for free from the official UIDAI website while sitting at home. An e-Aadhaar is as valid as the original Aadhaar card.
Key Features
- You can download your Aadhaar and check your Aadhaar update status on the UIDAI portal (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in).
- Your mobile number must be registered with Aadhaar, as the OTP is sent to that number.
- You can download Aadhaar using your Aadhaar number, VID (Virtual ID) or Enrolment ID (EID).
- The downloaded e-Aadhaar PDF is password protected.
- To get a plastic card delivered at home, use the "Order Aadhaar PVC Card" facility on the UIDAI portal (a prescribed fee applies).
- You can check the delivery status of your PVC card using "Track Aadhaar Status".
- If you don't receive your new or updated Aadhaar letter, you can also contact the postman through the post office.
Steps to Download Aadhaar Card
- Open the UIDAI website myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and click on "Download Aadhaar".
- Enter your Aadhaar number / VID / Enrolment ID (EID).
- Fill in the captcha code shown on the screen.
- Click "Send OTP". An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP and click "Verify & Download".
- Your e-Aadhaar will be downloaded as a PDF file.
How to Find the PDF Password
The password to open the e-Aadhaar PDF is the first 4 letters of your name (in CAPITALS) followed by your year of birth (YYYY).
Example: If your name is RAMESH KUMAR and your year of birth is 1990, the password is RAME1990
Important Points
- Use only the official UIDAI website or the mAadhaar app to download your Aadhaar.
- Never share your OTP or Aadhaar details with strangers.
- If you download Aadhaar on a public computer (cyber cafe etc.), delete the file afterwards.
- If your mobile number is not linked with Aadhaar, first visit the nearest Aadhaar centre to update it.

- आधार डाउनलोड करने और आधार अपडेट की स्थिति देखने की सुविधा UIDAI के पोर्टल (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in) पर उपलब्ध है।
- आधार डाउनलोड करने के लिए आपका मोबाइल नंबर आधार से रजिस्टर्ड होना ज़रूरी है, क्योंकि OTP उसी नंबर पर आता है।
- आप आधार नंबर, VID (वर्चुअल आईडी) या एनरोलमेंट आईडी (EID) में से किसी एक से आधार डाउनलोड कर सकते हैं।

आधार कार्ड डाउनलोड करने के स्टेप्स
- UIDAI की वेबसाइट myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in खोलें और "Download Aadhaar" पर क्लिक करें।
- अपना आधार नंबर / VID / एनरोलमेंट आईडी (EID) डालें।
- स्क्रीन पर दिया गया कैप्चा कोड भरें।

PDF का पासवर्ड कैसे पता करें?
ई-आधार PDF खोलने के लिए पासवर्ड आपके नाम के पहले 4 अक्षर (CAPITAL में) और जन्म वर्ष (YYYY) को मिलाकर बनता है।
